Cernavoda is situated on the Southern Dobrogea Plateau where the Danube river meets the Danube Black Sea canal. The defining element of the town is the Danube Black Sea canal as a reference point for the town's uban planning structure which divides Cernavoda in two different areas. According to its general topography, the town lies on the hills of the Danube river area which falls in irregular slopes or abrupt slants towards the Danube and the canal at an attitude between +9 until +100 metres as to the Baltic Sea reference mark.
