The spezial position of Passau as the meeting point of the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz brought the city not only high waters, it also allowed the city to practise trade.

Today Passau is a modern city with an old traditional city centre close to the Austrian boarder and has the youngest university in Germany. Currently Passau has a population of 50,548 inhabitants.
