European Commission: Progress Report on the Danube Strategy

16.04.2013 | EU Strategy for the Danube Region

Two years after the launch of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region the European Commission published their first progress report. The report provides information about the progress made on a variety of issues, joint projects and initiatives of the 14 countries of the "Danube Region", including eight member states of the EU.

The eight EU Member States and Croatia are "encouraged to make the strategy introduced in their plans for the next generation of programs in the context of regional policy for the period 2014-2020" the Commission states in the report. It also focuses on concrete progresses in the four key areas of the strategy: connecting the Danube region, environmental protection, building prosperity and strengthening the Danube region.

The report on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region is available on the Commission's website in several languages: http://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/cooperate/danube/documents_en.cfm#1
